Privacy Policy

The Compasslet app does not collect personal information. It has no account, advertising, analytics or tracking, and the app sends no data to Lunchbox Labs. Lunchbox Labs receives personal information only if you send it through the support form, as described under Support Requests.

Location

Compasslet asks for location access while you use it. On iPhone, location shows your coordinates, elevation and nearest city while the app is visible. The compass heading comes from the phone's compass sensor and does not need location access. During a CarPlay drive, location gives your travel direction, including while another app is visible.

Apart from the nearest-city lookup below, location is used only on your device as it arrives. Compasslet does not save location or route history. The Live Activity shows your last travel direction, when it was recorded and your display choices, and it is removed when the drive ends or you dismiss it.

You can change or turn off location access at any time in the Settings app under Privacy & Security › Location Services.

Nearest City

To show the nearest city, Compasslet asks Apple's map service for the place name at your current location. Apple handles that request under Apple's Privacy Policy. Lunchbox Labs does not receive it.

Settings and Diagnostics

Your display choices, and a summary of your car's CarPlay screen (its display scale, image size limit and light or dark appearance), are stored on your device. They are included in your device backups and deleted when you delete the app.

Debug Mode is off unless you turn it on. While it is on, Compasslet records timing events, with dates and times, for the Live Activity and CarPlay display on your device. These events do not include coordinates or directions. Turning Debug Mode off deletes them. They leave your device only if you export them and choose where to share them.

Support Requests

The support page shows a support form hosted by Google Forms. When you open that page, your browser loads the form from Google, and Google handles it under Google's Privacy Policy. If you send the form, Lunchbox Labs receives what you submit, including any contact details you choose to give, and uses it only to answer your request. Lunchbox Labs keeps a request only as long as needed to answer it. To have your request deleted, ask through the support form. If you open an issue on GitHub instead, it is public and handled under GitHub's terms.

This Website

Each page of this website links to Compasslet's source code on GitHub and shows details such as the repository's star and fork counts. Your browser loads those details from GitHub, which handles the request under GitHub's Privacy Statement.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
